She broke down the walls of the music business by performing, singing and designer. She was Mexican-American, but she was also a traditional. She was the first to bring Tejano to mainstream culture. Similar to how most people grieve a celebrity who died from their prime, the death of her was premature and destroyed the progress of her career. Through the years, her people were motivated to do their best to ensure that Selena's accomplishments would not go unnoticed. Selena is the Tejano singer who tragically killed during a shooting incident, caused the Latino response that could be likened to the reaction to Elvis Presley's and John Lennon's death. The music of Selena, an artist who was hugely success throughout Latino communities across North America touched people young and old. Selena may have been hailed by many as a Latina Madonna, however she is still a great character model. Selena's values of family life offstage and involvement in AIDS awareness programs provide a great example.
